Van "Turkey" Craig, was a talented racer and crew member who made his mark in the world of motorsports.
He worked behind the scenes for drivers in NASCAR and he also took to the track himself right here at Cherokee Speedway.

Cherokee County's first Olympian, who competed in the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, Canada. Foster went on to coach future hurdlers to serve in planning and organizing of future Olympic Games. Sadly, this talented Olympian and coach passed away in 2019.

Aside from his football prowess at Granard High School, Isaac Powell also had some baking chops. As head chef at Carroll Hotel, he is famous for his Lemon Meringue Pie.
