Educational Initiatives
The Museum, in partnership with Corinth Elementary and Cherokee County School District, is developing SC Department of Education–aligned resources for grades 1–5. Once completed, these materials will provide teachers and school groups with pre-visit, on-site, and post-visit lessons and supplemental resources.
Possum Trot Schoolhouse Experience
The Possum Trot Schoolhouse Experience gives students the opportunity to step back into 1885 and experience learning inside a historic one-room schoolhouse. Through hands-on lessons, period-style activities, and local history, students connect the classroom of the past with the learning and communities of today.
Immersive History
Students experience slate writing, recitations, mental math, and other elements of 19th-century school life.
Standards-Based Learning
Activities reinforce South Carolina standards through history, literacy, math, geography, and citizenship connections.
Meaningful Teacher Support
Educators receive a memorable field-trip experience that extends classroom learning and encourages discussion, reflection, and historical thinking.
