The Cherokee Historical and Preservation Society, Inc. (CHAPS), founded in 1969, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves as the legal owner and steward of several significant historic properties in Cherokee County, South Carolina. As the governing entity, CHAPS is responsible for preserving, maintaining, and interpreting these sites for the benefit of the community and future generations.
