Giving Opportunities

Explore opportunities to support the protection, preservation and interpretation of regional history and the arts for present and future generations.

Conveniently contribute online or contact our team to learn more.

General Fund

The General Fund ensures day-to-day operations for the Society. Income from the fund is targeted for operations, education, exhibitions, and maintenance of properties. Individual and corporate donations make up over a quarter of the annual budget, making them critical to our sustainability. CHAPS membership dues are a core part of the General Fund, so consider contributing and joining today.

Endowment Fund

The Endowment Fund preserves the value of donors’ gifts and ensures continued quality and longevity for the Society. By establishing an endowment, CHAPS can focus on the important work of preservation and education. Planned Giving is an excellent way to contribute to the fund and leaves a lasting legacy. Consider naming CHAPS as a beneficiary of your estate. Gifts may also be given in the form of retirement plan assets, securities, life insurance, stock, personal property, tributes and memorials. Individual gifts are pooled into the general Endowment Fund. The Society’s endowment corpus is never spent but allowed to grow with careful professional financial management.

Building Fund

The Building Campaign has been established to raise funds for continued renovations and maintenance of CHAPS properties, allowing for increased exhibit, class, and meeting spaces. The most recent phase of our building plan is the renovation of the Montgomery Street Wing of the building to allow for a Kids Zone, Sports Zone, Archives and Research Rooms.

Maintaining Possum Trot

Match Grants Met

CHAPS recently received a Bridge Grant from South Carolina Humanities. Funding for the Bridge Grants has been provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act economic stabilization plan.

Thank you for helping us match this $4,000 grant!

Santa recently gifted CHAPS $10,000 if we could match the donation. Thanks to your generosity we were able to meet this requirement resulting in $22,010!

This project is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission which receives support from the  National Endowment for the Arts. This project is also in part funded by a generous award from the South Carolina Relief Fund of the South Carolina Arts Foundation.
